Bought this for my teen - he used it this past weekend for the 1st time and said it was great! Kept him warm (temps in mid 30's), fits as expected, and good price. Probably not a great choice if you are going to endure prolonged exposure to really cold temps but for light/mid winter coat = great!A mi parecer no es tan abrigada como esperaba. Aún la sigo probandoMuy buena casaca, muy abrigadora y ligera. Ideal para toda ocasión.I'll start off by saying this jacket is very well made. I loved the materials, the zippers were high quality, the dark amber color looks fantastic, there's lots of room in the pockets, the pockets have a great fleece lining in them, and when I tried it on, I could tell it would've kept me very warm. And, if Columbia built this jacket with some flex/stretch in the upper torso area, it would be a sure-fire hit.The biggest issue for me was the sizing. I wish the chest/shoulder/back area had a bit of stretch/flex to the area so it fit men with more muscular builds. When I pulled my arms back, the chest area was tight, and when I moved my arms forward, the back and armpit area felt tight too. So this jacket was pretty restrictive for me, movement wise. I could've gone up a size, but then the lower half of the jacket would've been too big and baggy. Not exactly a look I'd like. The other issue is the hood. It's WAY too big, and when I put it on, it came down over my eyes and I couldn't see anything. So that needs addressing as I'm sure it's an issue for many people.Overall, I think it's a great jacket aside from the hood size, and if you have a normal build, I'm sure you'll love this. But if you lift weights and have built some muscle in your chest, back (lats especially), and shoulders, this might not be a good fit for you. This jacket is going to be my husband's 'travel' coat-the one he packs for trips when it might be a little cool or downright chilly. It's lightweight, water resistant, easy to pack and warm! It was recommended by a friend with a similar jacket.all ok, graxCalidad suprema como todo de Columbia. Talle perfecto. Muy recomendable.I was in need of a new jacket as the cold windy weather has approached and my old jacket needed replacing. I was looking for something that had qualities of a wind breaker, but also well insulated without looking like the "stay puffed" marshmallow guy. I wanted something that is quick to throw on and comfortably provides easy range of motion, yet stands up to the harsh New England cold and winds. This jacket lived up to all that! I put it on and I am protected from the winds and cold. Has a hood you can slide over to protect your head from the winds too. It's not heavy, but yet it is amazingly warm!I wanted a synthetic insulated jacket after getting a down jacket soaked, so researched a bit and went for this. After reading the Amazon reviews, as well as a favourable review in Trail magazine, I was somewhat disappointed with this jacket. The one I received has distinctly less fill or ‘puff’ than the pictured item. Less volume usually equals less warmth, and testing it outside swapping between other insulated jackets (a featherweight down jacket weighing just 350g and an old Primaloft insulated North Face Redpoint jacket) I found this, contrary to other reviews, to have not much warmth at all despite the reflective lining.Perhaps mine was just under filled compared to others. Sometimes being packaged tightly can mean the insulation gets compressed so I left it hanging up for a couple of weeks but it made no difference.I ordered size Large after some other reviewers reported them as generously proportioned. I found it to be what I’d expect for a Large, although a little more generous than some high-end British brands who tend to undersize in my opinion. American brands are usually larger and more true to size in my experience. It’s not a close-fitting cut with a little more in the body than some.I’m 6’1”, under 14st with 34” waist and 43” chest which sometimes means a Large is tight under the armpits, but this was ok. The sleeves were also long enough for me, the torso too, although as mentioned the torso room was ample, but the adjustable hem means it doesn’t leave gaps around the bottom. The hood is large and loose fitting and I wouldn’t be surprised if it fitted over a climbing helmet but didn’t try it. The drawstring adjustment helped a little here too but it was still loose. There is no wired peak so it can’t be pulled in too tight or it folds in over the face. The outer shell seems to have a good water repellent coating and the jacket looked well made.Jacket weighs 700g so it’s not particularly light. All in all I guess you get what you pay for, and generally synthetic is cheaper than down and less warm per volume, but you can get warmer jackets in synthetic and genuine down at more or less this price, and recent developments in hydrophobic down make up for some of its shortcomings when wet, so that’s what I’ll be doing, looking at other options.Fairly well made and warm synthetic down jacket at a reasonable offer price of just under £80. The problem was that even after ordering a size down (I am usually a snug medium) this jacket was too loose and unflattering. I do like clothing to fit me well and look good, but that may not be everyone's concern. The fact that even a small looked a little to big on me led me to going to go a big and well known sports retailer having top makes to try them on for real.I found that Rab fitted quite close to size (ie a medium is a fairly nice fit for a medium), although you have to be careful with padding filling in this country... that's because once you get authentic goose down wet you have a ruined jacket...Rab do do cheaper fully synthetic ones that can get wet, but I found them overpriced in terms of their quality...Plus (a biggie) every jacket I tried on had a worryingly snaggy front zipper. I had noted these complaints elsewhere , but it seems Rab dont construct their jackets with any good zip protection.. For me, that was a no no..I ended up with a Berghaus Claggan jacket, as it looked fab, was impossible to snag the zipper, felt really light but warm, looked fab (admittedly purchasing a size down again.. from a medium to a small which fitted beautifully), and has been amazing walking wet windy Wales right this minute. Was it a goose down jacket like many Rab ones it would have been binned already, but being synthetic has dried beautifully each evening in a warm room. Please choose synthetic over down if for outdoors uk use!!!All these jackets can only be washed in a tec-wash by the way (just for info)...Hope that's helpful to a few out there, and sorry to sidetracked a lot from the Columbia jacket assessment...In short, it is ok but looks and fit aren't fab and I believe there to be better out there for similar wonga. I was after a new jacket in this style, after ruining my down filled one by washing it - this one isn't down but I think that might be plus, as it make taking care of it easier. The jacket itself is well made - very good quality, like you'd expect from Columbia. It's warm enough for me - it has nice fleece lined pockets, and features the onmi-tech reflective technology to reflect heat back in. It fits well (I bought a large), and it's big enough to comfortably wear a hoody or something under if needed. Overall, would defo buy again.
