When this bottle arrived, I was surprised by the extraordinary clarity of the polycarbonate. Plasticizers are a very real problem and everything is BPA free nowadays, however, plasticizers are everywhere and DEHP is the next "BPA" and it was really nice to know that this, really, really nice, shaker bottle is free from both. Anyone that has shaken a bottle to get a shake to mix has already been sprayed at least once by a less than secure cap of the sort on this bottle and so, it was something I had to test with clean water beforehand; I also wanted to learn in the lid would leak around the threads without having to clean a sticky mess. In as much as it was water that I was going to shake, I loosened the lid a full turn and it did not leak when held upside down so I SHOOK THE HELL OUT OF IT! I shook it like it was in the jaws of a terrier and there was no leaking anywhere! Now, it was time for the real deal, also, I was hungry LOL! I tested this bottle with shakes from Nutrabio (Whey Protein Isolate and Micellar Casein) and RedCon1 (what else but MRE Blueberry Cobbler!) and I mixed them so that somewhere around 50g of protein were available. Testing this bottle with Whey Protein Isolate was like a go-kart race for this bottle, no problem at all. In case anyone wants to know, ~50g in 12 oz of water is what it takes to make Whey Protein Isolate creamy. Two scoops of MRE and I shook the bottle like it was in the jaws of a terrier and... NOTHING that tastes that good can be good for you! The result was delicious and creamy and, just in case someone wonders if the system used to break up clumps simply filters out the clumps, I drank it over a half hour --I can guzzle WPI but MRE is to be enjoyed-- and there were no clumps and I did not need to shake the bottle again over that half hour. I knew Micellar Casein was going to present a real challenge to the bottle and the anti clump system and after the MRE experience, I really wanted the bottle to win. Still, a couple of scoops in 12 oz and a good shaking and soon I was drinking clump free Micellar Casein. However, the real test of a shaker bottle consists of placing the bottle in the fridge or the freezer for hours and waiting until the inevitable mystery material settles to the bottom. Shakes have improved remarkably over my lifetime, however, somehow, this is still a problem. An hour later, I was shaking away --the effect of the freezer on the shake is definitely not the bottle's fault!-- and what I drank was delicious and frosty. When I washed it --because I wanted to refill the bottle-- the bottom rinsed clean with the first rinse, certainly, something unexpected. If you drink a shake for any reason, if you do not have this bottle, you'd best have a blender, it is that good and it is that simple. I suspect that quite a bit of computational fluid dynamics went into the design of the anti clumping insert because I really just expected to write something like "It didn't work" because, in over 30 years of strength training, I had yet to see a shaker bottle that would work. I can honestly say that I fully expected MRE to clog the whole works and, it certainly would have, if I had put four level scoops in there. However, two scoops of MRE in 12 oz of water was a very real challenge to the claims made by the designers of this bottle and I am happy to say that this shaker bottle was up to the challenge. The price is positively insane and someone is bound to make some change or another to the bottle so, if you are reading this, get yourself one before someone has to write that the designers changed a winning design.
