Like the title says, it’s the best one out there. I’ve done plenty of backpacking and have eaten a lot of mountain house meals back in the day. I eventually switched to packaging my own meals because I just had a hard time enjoying dehydrated food, the texture and consistently was never really there and the flavor was always just off. Fast forward ten years later and I’m willing to give some prepackaged meals a shot again out of ease of use, curiosity and nostalgia. Ended up with a few different brands and options, and first of all freeze dried meals in general have come a long way in the last ten years. I was pretty impressed with everything but the one that stood head and shoulders above the rest was the pad Thai. I mean maybe I was just starving but I remember using the phrase “restaurant quality” at the time and being just overall blown away. I have since ordered some more to try it again, but if it tastes as good at home as it did in the hills then I’ll be keeping some home year round.Hemos probado otros pad Thai de este tipo y este es lejos el mejor! This is pretty bangin’ pad Thai for freeze dried meal. I bought like 10 of em because I will not be upset if I have to eat this for several days straight. It actually tastes like pad Thai, good pad Thai. There are joints near my house I’ve ordered pad Thai from and it hasn’t been as good as this (maybe that’s saying more about my local offerings than the product here but still). I work a lot and am recently back after destroying my dominant wrist and my partner is disabled in her dominant hand so this is a quick and low effort yet satisfying meal solution that I can whip up for us easily on those days when we’re both just exhausted. Was stoked to find a tasty vegetarian option for freeze dried / quick shelf stable meals. This is by far my family’s fav Pad Thai. A major competitor recently released their Pad Thai, and its by far inferior to this version. I’ve also tried other competitors, and they were no-go as well. The shelf life isn’t 50 years or something as long as some products, but this Pad-Thai hasn’t survived for more than a few months before being gobbled up anyway.was not bad at all just need to cut back on lime wen make next timeIt is good - not great, but good for something different, and I love that it is vegetarian. The taste is comparable to the average frozen meals you can buy in the grocery store. It is not quite as good as Mountain House (at least not this flavor) but it is vegetarian and has a higher protein content. It says that it is spicy, but it is not really that spicy. It also has some vinegar in it, which I wish it didn't. However, it does have enough other seasoning to make up for the vinegar and lack of hot spice, and it is at least not bland. How authentic the "pad thai" flavor is I don't know. But authenticity aside, it is pretty good for freeze dried food that can be cooked and eaten directly from the pouch. This brings me to another point - how easy it is. Open up peanut butter packet and mix in the bag with the other ingredients, add hot water, stir, wait 15 minutes and eat right out of the bag. No prep, no cleanup, just a bag to throw away when you are done. For this it deserves some credit. I am actually using some of these at work where I can just pour hot water from the water dispenser. It is a convenient office meal when you don't have time to eat out or prepare lunch ahead of time.Overall, this is a good product and I will buy it again. The taste is decent, although not really spicy, it is vegetarian and has better nutritional value than most other backpacking foods. And regardless of authenticity, it provides something different than the same old mac and cheese, chicken, beef or chicken and beef flavor typical of the other brands.TIP: add less water at first, especially if you don't have a way to measure 540 mL, then more can be added if needed and that way you can avoid having a watery or diluted meal. Also, eat less of this and have a yogurt cup, protein drink or protein bar to cut back on the carbs and make more meals out of it.Tastes amazing!I've tried a lot of gluten free dehydrated meals, including every brand of pad thai, and this is by far my favorite. I cook it in a 28oz barocook, which it just barely fits into.I consider myself as a foodie and I don't write food review if it is not good/bad enough. So, hear me out. Before I purchase this Pad Thai, I have watched and read a lot review about it and most of the people agree on its wonderful taste. Still, with skeptical, I bought one for my camping trip. When I open it up, there are a bag with three little bags & a small paper pouch in it: peanut butter, roasted peanut, hot sauce and lime crystalThese are the extra ingredients you can add into your Pad Thai once it's ready. When adding hot water, try not to add too much at once. You would want to add some more if you found the water it not enough. Over adding water will ruin its taste as it become watery. Once Pad Thai is ready, add in those ingredients till it fit your taste. If you get it just right, you will have one of the best dehydrated food ever! The complexity level of its favor will blow your mind, and the most surprising is the lime crystal did not overtake other favors. If you like hot, spicy, add in some dried pepper flake will further boost the taste.A definite recommend camp food imo!Purchased this for a car camping weekend that we decided to keep super simple. This Pad Thai didn't disappoint. Very delicious and satisfying - easily enough for two people. The only drawback (which didn't matter to us this time, but . . .) I feel like at 8.1 oz this pkg is on the heavy side for carrying into the back country.I had big hopes as an option to the Legacy 25 year products but the flavour is way too strong and I barely added 1/10 of the spice pouch. We eat Thai food from local cafe and can say that it is no where close to the real stuff.I have always been skeptical of the freeze dried food but bought this for a camping trip where we had to hike in so weight was a concern. It is really easy to make, just boil water and add to the package. Surprising this turned out excellent, it tastes exactly like pad thai. I have to say this is one of the best tasting freeze dried meals I have found. Definitely try this out!Very tasty! Better than I could make at home. Can be very spicy of you want it to be.I've since bought more.
