It's not easy finding a 3x puffer stile jacket so thank you Columbia for that. Some shirts I wear are 2x, some are 3x, it depends on the manufacturer and even one style shirt to the next. Thanks to modern manufacturing, right?Onto the jacket. The fit is generous, I have LOTS of room in this which I like. If you like a more snug fit, you may want to consider ordering down. The jacket is warm without being TOO warm, also something that I value because I prefer a layered approach to warmth. I've used it in the upper 40's to the teens here in the Great Lakes region. The DWR finish seems to hold up well so far, though I did wash it first with Granger's.So to nitpick on the jacket, here are a couple of things that stand out. First, there is no Napoleon pocket. I ordered knowing there wasn't one and thought I'd get used to not having one but I haven't and probably won't. Phone in my pants pocket vs. Napoleon pocket is much less desirable. Next, the zippers are too close to the material of the jacket which means if you're not careful the shell of the jacket will get eaten by the zippers.Something to be aware of, the side and under arm material. It's very thin and made out of a similar material as gym shorts. This is both good and bad. Good because it will help regulate heat so if you are warm natured or layer right, it's good. If you're one of those who wants a jacket to envelop you in over the top warmth, this may be disappointing. By comparison, I have a similar style of jacket by Simms and the under arm/side material is stretch fleece which does a much better job keeping warmth inside yet still breathes. In summary, I'm happy enough with the jacket for the price paid--which was around $60. For that price, it's a no brainer and if something else comes up that catches my eye, I can purchase it without much thought. If I had paid full price of $140, this would be going back. Even the Sale price listed on Columbia's website of $100 or so, I'm not sure I'd keep it. For the price paid 4 Stars. At full retail price it's a solid 3.It's lightweight and comfortable. The down is in all the best spots to keep you warm. There isn't down on the undersides of the arms and sides of the body, but this helps with keeping the body cool when it does warm up a bit. This is what makes it the perfect California Jacket, because the cold and warmth can sneak up on you throughout the day and I never seem to have to take the jacket off when it does.I'm 5'8" 175 and ordered a large (could have gone with a medium). The fit was a little on the loose side but will work for late camping and other fall activities. It's a very light jacket and probably would not be enough for winter mountain weather but is perfect for autumn. The fill is synthetic but has a nice feel to it that is very comparable to down (not crunchy, loud, or stiff). If you’re looking for something with more of an athletic fit, I would go for a medium but if your planning on layering a large will do fine. This is WAY oversized in my opinion. I usually wear xl items, but this is like a tent on me. Cant comment much on how it functions because Its just too big to even try out. It doesn't look as warm as I was hoping for though, the panels on the sides under the armpits are paper thin. So this is probably only good for cool weather, not cold.We bought this for my teen age son. It fits nicely, looks good on him and keeps him dry and warm.Light weight jacket exactly what I was looking for fits an looks greatLightweight and comfortable. Keeps you warm without sweating. Hood keeps your head dry. Slight amount of feathers leech out but pretty standard for this type of insulation.the coat looks good but not all that warm. the down panels are only front and back. the sides are a thin nylon materialI love my new coat. Looks great on. It's a very thin lightweight coat so don't expect anything bulkyLeggero e comodo per inizio autunno e primavera.
