Not all curry powder/blends are created equal. This offers a real curry kick that is not too hot, but delivers a vibrant blend of spice that really goes a long way to creating sensational dishes.Pretty good quality you just don't get much in volume and it needs to be a little fresherThis curry, that I’ve been searching for, is like what my local Chinese restaurant uses in their chicken curry. My local Raley's store name brand organic curry was close but this one nails it and I can’t stop adding it to my NONGSHIM GOURMET SPICY Ramen Noodles, try it, just a bit is enough if you love curry. Took a chance since it's 3 bottles but no regrets. I'm used to Indian style curry which is good but wanted to find an alternative that matched my local Chinese restaurant curry since they're 25 miles away and have been too early shopping to stick around until they open and don't know if it's take out only which is fine since I get it to go anyway. So if you're looking for the same thing I say get this curry, I think you'll be as glad as I am to have found it!Love all of Simply Organic products!I'm Indian, and like the description for this product states- we tend to either grind our spices fresh (esp back in India), or store home ground spices to use- try grinding cumin seeds in your coffee grinder at home, the aroma and taste it imparts is unbeatable! To tell you the truth I typically store and use many of the ingredients present in this curry powder separately. That's because different Indian dishes require more or less of specific spices and one bottle containing everything just won't do if you want authentic (to the region) Indian food. For example, food from South India contains less cumin than that from the North. The cuisine is just as varied in the east and west of India.I like to use this curry powder as is on my scrambled eggs occasionally, and add a little cinnamon, cumin and clove powder when I use it for a meat rub. My typical rub/ marinate, is usually a blend of home ground spices like garam masala (North Indian dish) or a rasam powder (south Indian), and though this powder doesn't come close to the taste or smell of those, it's a good option when I'm looking for a different 'neither here, nor there' taste. That's not negative in any way, it's just that this isn't really authentic Indian curry powder, and sometimes even as an Indian, you don't want to eat authentic all the time! For everyone who is trying to make authentic Indian food, do make a quick trip to an Indian grocery store with a list. You'll find the real, good stuff there and even though the shelves packed with strange ingredients might seem overwhelming, I believe Indians love to assist! This is very flavorful curry powder with an excellent blend of spices for flavor, but a bit too peppery for our taste. It is the mildest I could find now, though, since Frontier herbs no longer offers the truly mild curry that I used to buy in bulk one pound packages. I need to remember to use less of this Simply Organic brand than I was using of the Frontier brand, and to add some extra turmeric. Last week my son came to visit and I made roast lamb, curried cauliflower with a few peas for extra color and baked sweet potatoes. My son ate ALL of the cauliflower that was still in the serving bowl at the end of the meal. it was a lot!I wish I could give this curry powder 5 stars, but that "too peppery" took away one star. If you like pepper/spice heat, you will might think this curry powder is mild. It's all a matter of individual preference and "hot" tolerance. If I'm making a curry I usually use my own cumin, turmeric, etc but if I'm throwing together a chicken salad or making some deviled eggs and I want a curry flavor this is my go to item in the spice cabinet. The flavor is rich and well rounded and mild. Sometimes I'll add a a bit of hot pepper but not always. If you want to just open 1 jar and have a great flavor this organic curry powder is perfect. After reading about ground spices filled with ground up bugs I decided to go organic and I love this SIMPLY ORGANIC curry powder as much as I love their ground ginger and other spices. Try it and use it with a can of Cream of Chicken soup or Vichyssoise, chicken salad, chick pea salad, potato salad, or mixed with yogurt and or sour cream for a great dip for veggies. It is so versatile, so cheap and delivered right to your door giving you more time to cook and relax. It is cheaper as an add-on with prime than at the store (usually have to go to a specific store too).I like this curry because it's a bit sweet; which I didn't understand that's what I wanted when I first started using curry. But, a lot of the other curries out there are bitter and usually don't work out for me.If you're new with making curry --The first thin I learned was the refrigerated coconut milk (a milk alternative) is not the same as coconut milk for cooking (who knew?!).This is the coconut milk we usually use (really good with this curry and a can of pumpkin, + other spices, to make squash soup!)http://www.thaikitchen.com/Products/Coconut-Milk/Coconut-Milk.aspxAlso, this is a basic curry sauce and where I started/learned -- then you can add in whatever veggies and meat.http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/curry-coconut-sauceAbsolutely delicious!! I have never been able to cook a decent curry before. I used this to make a chicken curry with veg and it turned out really good for a first try. Just ordered 2 more. It works out expensive but worth it and I'm following a weight loss plan and need to make low fat curries.Love this curry powder.Very. Nice curry powder, good quality you need only small amount to enjoy.Really happy with the product and service.dont know what all the hype is about
