I think finding a protein powder that works for you is pretty trial and error, but so far I'm happy with this one. Here's what I like about it:-It's unsweetened. I was using a protein that contained an artificial sweetener prior to ordering Life's Basics, and after several months of not eating things with added sugar/sweeteners, I began to really despise the taste. In the end, I couldn't even finish a shake with that stuff because it was so cloying it was making me gag. Life's Basics doesn't have an added sweetener, and while the taste is a tiny bit funky, it is totally manageable.-It's plant based. I think the combo of whey and sweetener in my last powder was really wreaking havoc on my belly, so I sought something out that was plant based instead. I can say I've had no stomach upset after using Life's Basics. I also like that it's plant based because there's only so much turkey and chicken I can eat, and getting protein from a variety of sources is appealing to me.There are a couple of things that I'm not crazy about, however:-It mixes REALLY thick and fluffy. I'm not a fan of drinking protein and usually try to get it into my food somehow, like mixing with oats, yogurt or baking it into things. This stuff thickens up so much that it's impossible to "sneak it in" to certain foods and completely changes the texture of whatever you're eating. If you're cool with that, then fine. It doesn't bother me too much, and with oats I'll just add some extra liquid to compensate. That being said, I made one shake with it when I was in a hurry, and couldn't break down the big clumps very well so I don't think I'll be drinking it again any time soon...-How much you get in a container. I've used it up so fast! Which is fine, I'll just be buying more frequently...All in all, it's pretty good stuff. If I didn't have certain fitness goals, I wouldn't supplement protein because I don't really like it. But I do have certain fitness goals, and Life's Basics is tolerable and does the job!Never too late for self-improvement! I am 57 years old and just became a grandmother for the first time. I have severe arthritis and degenerative disc and joint disease, and that ever so controversial fibromyalgia! 15 years ago my MRI showed 9 disc herniations in all levels of my spine. Just this past year I had to retire after being a Registered Nurse since graduating in 1982. I was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors and hiking, walks, camping etc. I am ordering this based on a recommendation from my sister who follows Dr. Axe. I never heard of him-was too busy working and struggling with severe pain all day. This plant protein mix is part of a new program that I started for myself, hoping to stall any further progression of my disease, again based on my own online research, including teachings by Dr. Axe. My sister is two years younger than me, has nowhere near the pain and mobility issues that I do, however does have occasional flare-ups of hip of other aches and pains. She swears by her daily smoothies, says that they are making a difference in her overall functioning and quality of life. She also recommended this brand mix to me. I am impressed with everything about it! It goes along with Dr. Axe's recommendations, such as being all natural, no sugar, gluten-free, basically free of the bad stuff. It has a faint vanilla taste-very pleasant, and not at all gritty, mixes well. I start my day with creating a delicious smoothie with a scoop of this ingredient, a frozen banana, coconut or coconut almond silk, and whatever else I have on hand such as a tablespoon of flax seeds, berries, yogurt, fresh greens, greens drink mix, Go Ruby Go mix, etc. I love being imaginative and creating healthy shake masterpieces! I have been doing this daily for about two weeks and I swear that I am already noticing a difference in my pain and energy levels and also less stiffness/improved mobility! I am excited for what the future will bring. It can only get better if I am seeing improvement already. This grandma is now looking forward to the second half of this life experience. The next 50 years are going to be awesome thanks to healthy living starting with protein, the building blocks for a healthy system. I recommend this product and I thank my sister for bringing it to my attention! Enjoy?
